Wow, kelsey and I listened to this three times last night and each time we just lay there dumbfounded. It's so fucked up and weird, but full of tons of ear candy and amazing climaxes. It's probably the densest album I have ever heard, theres just always so much going on. Easily #2 of 2006, and might dethrone 10,000 Days as #1.

Ah. Really? Wow. I will have to check it out then. As much I dig MV I felt a bit skeptical when I read that; being as I am a bigger fan of Tool than of TMV. Hmm. I will definitely have to check it out when it is released.

After a few dozen album listens, I think this new TMV might be their best.

I don't know, but it's very very good. I'm completely hooked. I thought the new Sikth would be my favourite album of the year, but TMV is taking that position.

98/100

Yeah, its in my top 3 of this year so far, although the new Zero Hour and Arsis might kick it down 2 spots since I'm predicting those will be awesome.

Yepp, the Mars Volta are indeed awesome. Looking forward to the new album.

Does anyone know any bands with singers like Cedric bixler? I can think of Protest the Hero, who are good, and Coheed and Cambria, who kinda blow. Any others?

Holy fuck that is some awesome fusion fun on "Viscera Eyes".

(@Jaden) Undoubtedly better than the new Sikth, in my opinion. Sikth are great but DoaDD was variations on a successful theme. But TMV really are bringing up new ideas every time. Really strong melodies running right through it, and an excellent vocal performance, as well as being eclectic as fuck.

At the beginning i was very sceptical about this band but after some time they grew on me. Frances the Mute def beats the fuck out of De-Loused... (which was the first one i had heard)

I like De-loused the best, but holy cows of Algeria, what a discography they will have if they continue in this fashion.

I'm wondering what they'll sound like without Jon Theodore, he was a fantastic drummer although I think they needed some sort of line-up change for fresh ideas so they didn't start stagnating.

Frances the Mute is my favourite. The noise sections make it better damnit (The outro to Miranda =)!!! Amputechture needed some editing - the quiet songs and Meccamputechture are all 2-3 minutes too long.
