Same, a lot of it just seems to be slightly experimental pop. Anyways heres some bands that are considered somewhere in the indie/post-hardcore/neofolk area of things:
The Arcade Fire
Iron & Wine
Wilco (for Misha: Their guitarist Nels Cline's free jazz guitar solo work

)
Neutral Milk Hotel
Aereogramme
These Arms Are Snakes
Minus The Bear
Architecture in Helsinki
Slint
Mogwai
Surfjan Stevens
Modest Mouse
i probably got a few names wrong since I haven't actually heard a few of their bands, just heard people talk about them on rateyourmusic
Yeah, there are some good names there, but I personally don't see why the good names are indie rock

like Mogwai, Neutral Milk Hotel, Aereogramme, Arcade Fire...
Yeah, the only bands I like Ithat listed there aren't technically indie rock, but a lot of indie kids seem to like them. Fugazi are good. Russian Circles are decent but iREPRESS are much better.
