Former JUDAS PRIEST Singer Joins ICED EARTH!

Former JUDAS PRIEST frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens has officially joined ICED EARTH. Owens, whose split with PRIEST was said to have been amicable, has already finished laying down vocals to the group's new album, "The Glorious Burden", tentatively due this fall through SPV/Steamhammer Records.

"The album is done, and it's not just done, it rules!!" ICED EARTH guitarist/songwriter Jon Schaffer writes on the band's web site. "I have never been more pleased in all my years of recording. It came out the way it was supposed to be!"

Beseech Name New Album

Swedish "gothic metal" act BESEECH have set "Drama" as the title for their fourth full-length album, tentatively due in early 2004 through Napalm Records.

BESEECH have spent the past few weeks at Studio Mega recording the follow-up to 2002's "Souls Highway", the group's first effort since the departure of longtime guitarist Klas Bohlin. Children Of Bodom To Release Best Of Album

Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM have set a September 3 release date for their forthcoming "Best Of " album, titled "Bestbreeder (1997-2000)", to be released exclusively in Japan through Toy's Factory Records. As an added bonus, the album will include the group's cover of BILLY IDOL's "Rebel Yell", recorded during a recent session at keyboardist Janne Warman's Beyond Abilities studio.

CHILDREN OF BODOM's latest CD, "Hate Crew Deathroll", will receive its long-overdue U.S. release on September 23 through Century Media Records. The group, who recently parted ways with rhythm guitarist Alexander "Aku" Kuoppala, will team up with DIMMU BORGIR, NEVERMORE and HYPOCRISY for a North American tour in November.

Vinnie Moore and Jason Bonham Join UFO

Guitarist extraordinaire Vinnie Moore has now officially joined UFO as the replacement for Michael Schenker. Moore will reportedly join the rest of the group - vocalist Phil Mogg, bassist Pete Way, keyboardist Paul Raymond and drummer Jason Bonham - at an undisclosed studio in September to begin work on the band's next album, tentatively due next summer. UFO were previously in talks with former EUROPE/DOKKEN guitarist John Norum to replace Schenker, but eventually decided to look elsewhere while Norum continued work on his upcoming solo album. Jason Bonham, son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, has released several albums with his own band (Bonham) and has been the subject of many rumours about his possible involvement in a Led Zeppelin reunion.

CRIMSON GLORY, one of the best and most influential prog-metal bands to emerge from the 1980s, appears to be one step closer to a full-fledged reunion.

IRON MAIDEN'S NICKO MCBRAIN ARRESTED

IROM MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain was arrested and charged with assault yesterday (July 26) after intentionally hitting a parking attendant with his car before a concert at the Tommy Hilfiger at Jones Beach Theater, state park police said.

Michael "Nicko" McBrain, 51, of London, was trying to enter the VIP parking lot in a black 2004 Jaguar at the theater when he began arguing with a parking attendant about 8:30 p.m., state park police Maj. Richard O'Donnell said.
