VANDEN PLAS Complete Songwriting Process For New Album
17 Aug 2004

German progressive metallers VANDEN PLAS have finished writing new 15 songs and are planning on recording 10 of them for their upcoming album, tentatively due in early 2005. In addition, the band are working on a rock musical entitled "Monte Cristo". The new VANDEN PLAS album will also be based on this topic.

Commented guitarist Stephan Lill: "First we wanted to do an album called 'Monte Cristo', which should have been kind of a rock musical. But after a while we realized that it would be very hard to find a good solution regarding the songwriting. If the songs are too hard, no one in the theater-scene would listen to them. 17 Aug 2004

Finland's NIGHTWISH have posted the following message on their web site regarding the group's cancelled North American dates:

"Many fans have asked us why the shows in Canada had to be cancelled due to U.S. visa problems. The band's manager Ewo Rytkönen explains:

'So, after doing these two shows in Ca ...

W.A.S.P.: Montreal Show Cancelled, Stage Deemed 'Not Strong Enough'
10 Aug 2004

W.A.S.P. cancelled their sold-out concert at Foufounes Electriques in Montreal Sunday night (August 8) after the club's stage was allegedly deemed not strong enough to withstand the 1,000-lbs. mic stand (presumably the same one pictured here during the band's show in San Diego, courtesy of OnTrackMagazine.com) that W.A.S.P. wanted to use as part of their live show, according to a statement by the concert organizers posted outside the club. The promoters allegedly tried to get the stage adjusted in time without success, claiming that they had only become aware of the massive stage piece 48 hours before the show. The statement went on to claim that Foufounes Electriques and the show organizers offered W.A.S.P. more money to show up, but the band allegedly refused to come. The group have yet to comment on the cancellation.
