CATHEDRAL: New Album Title Announced

Veteran British doom/stoner band CATHEDRAL will enter Chapel studios (THE DARKNESS, NAPALM DEATH, URIAH HEEP, WET WET WET, SIMPLE MINDS) in Lincolnshire, U.K. in November to record its ninth full-length album and second for the Nuclear Blast label. Entitled "The Guessing Game", the new CD will once again be produced by Warren Riker (DOWN, CROWBAR) and sport stunning new artwork from band collaborator Dave Patchett. AVANTASIA's Next Chapter Will Be Spread Over Two Albums

EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has decided that the forthcoming chapter from his AVANTASIA project will be spread over two albums. He explained: "I have always given my very best, but this new chapter in AVANTASIA's history is too much and too ambitious to be just a regular album. I have worked on it for years now, and it has become even more than two albums!

EVILE Bassist Dies At 32

Just a few days into the band's European tour with AMON AMARTH, bassist Mike Alexander of British thrashers EVILE was suddenly taken ill and rushed to hospital, but tragically passed away in Luleå, Sweden [on Monday, October 5]. He was 32 years old.

NEGURA BUNGET — the Romanian band that incorporates elements of black metal, progressive metal, folk metal and dark ambient — has set "Vîrstele Pamîntului" (English translation: The Ages of the Land/Earth) as the title of its new album, tentatively due in early 2010. The group states in a press release, "'Vîrstele Pamîntului' is an album about embracing your destiny, about choosing and consciously assuming a way of life. "CULT OF LUNA will gather soon for a shorter recording session. One weekend in the middle of October in Umeå. It is not a recording related to an album, though; it is for something else.
