RIP Adrian Bromley
15 Dec 2008

The metal community has lost one of its strongest advocates with the passing of Adrian "The Energizer" Bromley. He was just 37 years old. Adrian was the editor and one of the founders of the heavy metal magazine Unrestrained! He had been a metal journalist for many years, and was also a founder of one of the first metal webzines, Chronicle Of Chaos. Until recently Adrian worked in promotion for The End Records and his latest ventures were his promotion company Ixmati Media and record label Absurdist Records.

I've known Adrian for the past few years. I can't believe he is gone, being a year younger than me. It is a shock. I have never met him personally, but always enjoyed a brief exchange after I had posted a review of another band he promoted. His upbeat personality, endless energy and vast knowledge of metal made him a pleasure to talk to. It pains me to say, that there is still a pile of releases on my desk bearing the Ixmati imprint, which I will have to review now, out of sheer memory and respect for the man. I can't believe we have exchanged e-mails as recently as last week ....

The outpouring of grief, love and fond memories from the countless people Adrian's life touched has been amazing. This thread on the Bravewords.com message board (http://www.bravewords.com/braveboard/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=86432), where Adrian, aka "Mr. Pink Bunny" was a regular and prolific poster, shows just how many friends and admirers he had. He was a metal institution in Toronto, but between his writing, publicity work and friendships his loss will be felt worldwide. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Janurary 17 at The Opera House in Toronto. Our condolences to Adrian's family, fiancee and friends. You will be greatly missed.
