- Symphorce have finished recording their new album, Become Death (cover). The album will be released in February/March 2007, and will feature ten tracks. You can hear a very heavy clip of a new track, “Embrace The Dead,” at this location (fill in the box with something, hit SEND, and the clip will play).
- Breaking their long silence, The Eternal have offered an update on their current happenings. An excerpt: “We have been busy writing material for the yet-to-be-named third album. Currently 16 tracks have been developed and about 10 being close to completion. Tracks so far include 'Silence', 'Without Reason', 'Brighter Day', 'Blood', 'I've Seen The Dream Through Someone Else's Eyes', 'Sunshine' and 'Inside The Grey'. At this stage it is unclear which of the tracks will make the final cut and we hope to hit the studio by mid 2007 at the latest.”
- Dan Swanö has recently commented on his guest vocal contributions to the upcoming Threshold album, Dead Reckoning; Swanö guests on “Slipstream” and “Elusive.” Commented Swanö: “My backing growls on the upcoming Threshold album (and the upcoming Winds album) is the most brutal thing you will hear from me in quite some time. Tore my fucken throat apart for these guys!!” Dead Reckoning is scheduled for a March 2007 release.
- Raunchy’s debut, Velvet Noise, will see a re-release through the label that originally released it, Mighty Music, sometime in 2007. It will be called Velvet Noise Extended, and will feature new artwork, liner notes, and four bonus tracks.
- After Forever have confirmed that their upcoming release will be a self-titled affair. The album will be released in March 2007 via Nuclear Blast.
- Soilwork will enter the studio in March to record the follow-up to 2005’s Stabbing The Drama.
- In January 2007, Nightwish guitarist Emppu Vuorinen’s AOR/hard rock side-project Brother Firetribe will release their new single for a track called “I Am Rock.” The single will also feature an acoustic version of “Love Goes Down” and a video for “One Single Breath,” both originally from the debut, False Metal.
- Symphony X will mix their upcoming album, Paradise Lost, in January 2007. The album is tentatively due for release shortly thereafter.
- Two new work-in-progress demos—“A Simple Mistake” and “Everything”—from Anathema can be heard on the band’s official website (under the multimedia section).
- Elvenking are currently in the studio working on their fourth album, the follow-up to The Winter Wake; and, according to official studio updates, so far they have recorded drums and guitars (electric and acoustic). A 2007 release is expected.
- Eternity Black, the old school thrash band featuring ex-Helstar guitarists Robert Trevino and Larry Barragan, have made a new 3-song EP available for purchase via their official website. You can also stream three full-length tracks—well worth it!
- The recording of the currently-untitled third album from Nightrage is complete. The album is scheduled for a February 2007 release in Europe, April in the US.
- Slumber’s long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s Fallout is tentatively scheduled to be finished around Summer 2007. It is unknown whether or not the band will have to change their name (there was some previous dispute with ex-band members over the band name). The band recently launched an official MySpace page at this location.
- A studio clip of Dark Tranquillity recording their upcoming album has been made available via the band’s official YouTube page. You can hear short samples of new tracks in the video.
- It has been reported that Ozzy Osbourne has been worrying about his son, Jack, who is filming a new police reality TV show, Armed and Famous, with the Muncie, Indiana police department. Ozzy is quoted as saying: “I told [Jack] if they start shooting he should hide behind the biggest guy and duck.” MetalReviews.com has confirmed that there is no duck on the Muncie, Indiana police force; Ozzy is just crazy.
