Random scraps of metal news...
- A new Pain Of Salvation song has been uploaded to Inside Out’s MySpace page. The song, entitled “America,” comes off of the band’s upcoming Scarsick album (cover artwork), due in Jan. 2007. You can hear the song at this location.
- Bloodbath’s debut EP, Breeding Death, has been reissued. The reissue includes the following: “revamped” artwork, lyrics, and two unreleased demos of “Breeding Death” and “Omnious Bloodvomit”. You can order the EP here.
- The legendary Cynic will be playing at next year’s Maryland Deathfest, which will take place on May 26–27 at Sonar in Baltimore, MD. This will mark the first time—if they don’t do any US shows before this one—Cynic has played on US soil in over ten years; they will also tour Europe in 2007.
- A new Marilyn Manson album is on the horizon. Manson recently commented by saying, “We're about two songs away from a finished album that we didn't even have a few months ago.” No release date/timeframe has been set.
- Marko Tervonen (ex-The Crown) has begun working on a new Angel Blake album.
- Suspyre’s sophormore release, A Great Divide, has been delayed until Jan. 2007. The album will be released on Nightmare Records; you can pre-order the album here. Two new tracks can be heard on the band’s (MySpace page).
- Battlelore have revealed the tracklisting for their upcoming fourth album, Evernight. You can view the tracklisting here. Bonus material has been recorded and will be included on the limited edition digipack.
- Visions Of Atlantis has set Trinity as the title of their third album, tentatively due in March 2007 via Napalm Records. The cover artwork can be viewed at this location.
- The upcoming Black Sabbath: The Dio Years release will be a single disc, not a box set like previously reported. The album will contain at least two new recordings with Ronnie James Dio on vocals.
- Greek female death metal trio Astarte has posted the artwork for their upcoming fifth album, Demonized, at this location. The album will include an Accept cover (“Princess Of The Dawn”), and will feature guest performances by members of Arch Enemy, Mayhem, and God Dethroned.
- Symphorce have begun recording their new album, Become Death. Ten tracks will appear on the album; no word on any bonus material. Expect a February/March release through Metal Blade Records.
- Brazilian thrashers Scar has begun working on material for their upcoming full-length debut. This year’s The Nether Hell—based on The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri—was overwhelmingly declared a thrash masterpiece by critics and fans alike.
- New Jersey-based Core Device have begun—finally!—recording the follow-up to Our Fellowship Eternal. A recent video for the track “Hell And Torment” (from Our Fellowship Eternal) can be viewed at this location.
- Mechanical Poet have finished recording their new album, Creepy Tales For Freaky Children. The album is currently being mixed; it will feature a total of sixteen songs, four of which are bonus tracks; Three will appear on the Russian version, the other on the “Director’s Cut” version.
- A new Redemption song entitled “The Suffocating Silence” has been uploaded to their MySpace page. The song comes off the forthcoming The Origins Of Ruin album.
- Arjen Anthony Lucassen has begun work on a new Ayreon album; he’s already been in contact with “some very interesting and talented people” to perform on the album. No more info is available at this time.
- Dag Swanö—brother of the legendary Dan Swanö—was recently interviewed by UltimateMetal.com; in the interview he discusses the differences to be expected on the upcoming Nightingale album—largely absent of Dan Swanö input—White Darkness. You can read the interview at this location.
- According to a source close to the band, rumor suggests that After Forever’s upcoming album with be titled Energized. The album is also rumored to feature a little pink, sunglasses-wearing bunny on drums.
