Random scraps of metal news...

  • Cradle Of Filth have parted ways with drummer Adrian Erlandsson. No replacement has been announced.


  • Moonspell won for Best Portuguese Act at the 13th annual MTV Europe Music Awards, which was held on Nov. 2 in Copenhagen, Denmark.


  • Twisted Tower Dire have named Viper vocalist Johnny Aune as replacement for recently departed vocalist Tony Taylor—who is now singing for German metallers Custard. Twisted Tower Dire's new album, Netherworlds, will be released on Feb. 23, 2007 through Remedy Records.


  • Shadows Fall name their upcoming new album (due in March 2007): Threads Of Life.


  • Dew-Scented have finished recording their upcoming, yet-to-be-titled album. They have recorded 12 tracks and some bonus material for inclusion. The album remains to be mixed and mastered. No release date has been announced.


  • Italian folk/power metallers Elvenking have recently begun recording the follow-up to The Winter Wake at Gernhart Studios in Germany.


  • Byzantine are looking to enter the studio on Dec. 8 to begin recording the follow-up to 2005’s …And They Shall Take Up Serpents. Vocalist/guitarist OJ Ojeda says the band has “…11 songs in the bag and most likely will have 15 penned by the time pre-production starts.” A DVD is also in the works; and the band will be featured on an upcoming Eyehategod tribute CD entitled For The Sick: A Tribute To Eyehategod.


  • Twisted Sister have posted the video to their new Christmas single, “Oh Come Ye Faithful,” from their A Twisted Christmas on YouTube.com.


  • Sirenia have set Feb. 27, 2007 as the release date for their new album, Nine Destinies And A Downfall.


  • The fantastical power/thrash metal band 3 Inches Of Blood have just entered the famed Armoury Studios in Vancouver to record the follow-up to their breakthrough Advance And Vanquish. Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison is producing the effort. A new demo called Goatrider’s Horde can be streamed HERE.


  • Shocker of the Week: A spokeperson for Universal Music recently told Jane Stevenson of the Toronto Sun that, “[Universal has] no indication that a Guns N’ Roses record will be released this year.” Frankly, we here at MetalReviews.com are astounded.
