"A Perfect Circle" is of course the joint project of Billy Howerdel, and Tool's Maynard Keenan. Over the past few months it has been the subject of intense industry and fan speculation - and inevitably the target of every bootlegger in the US.

Early responces from fans seem to indicate "A Perfect Circle" are living up to expectations. I've heard nothing but praise for the radio promo "Judith", and the promo clip of "Orestes" available on the official website.

Having had the privilage to hear the CD in full, my opinions are somewhat mixed.

I'd like to think we have some Tool fans amoung our readers(?), and if so you were probably as excited about this album as me! The first thing that needs to be said is that this is not Tool. It has a deep, more melodic feel, and is distinctively slower and softer at times - so you've been warned! Anyone who saw them play live and liked what they heard will definately like this CD. Maynard's voice is incredable, and is arguably shown off better here than with Tool. That said, my first impressions were slightly negative- I guess I was hopeing for new Tool material, which this is definately not. The track "Judith" was about as close as it got, but it looks like I'll have to wait some more...

Alternative Rock fans will love this one - its as deep as the ocean, with breath-taking melodies and vocals - there are some amazing songs that you will find yourself humming to!

But of course - you cant please everyone all of the time. Fans of heavier music who generally avoid to alt. rock genre are best to avoid this one and check out some of the other great albums reviewed this month... or if you're feeling adventurous, at least try before you buy.
