Corpspsazm, residing from southern California, is a trio who focuses on a crusty black metal and punk sound. Ranging from themes such as death worship, the paranormal, or just simply the worthlessness of human existence, their self-titled EP portrays these ideas in a very extreme manner.

Tracks are a short burst of disordered chaos in their entirety, sounding black metal, but with a punk attitude. Hollow Incarnation doesn’t take long to make the album spiral downward into a hellish pit of despair. Tracks really drive off of a death thrash vibe, with vocals that shriek in misery and instruments that clash that truly bring out a muddled sound that is very hard on the ears, and to listen to at times.

It is certainly clear that much of their tracks were written not for the faint of heart, as each one will take the listener on a journey through pandemonium that unfortunately can grow tiresome. However some tracks like to throw in twists, like Chains of Mortality, slowing things down quite a bit to convey a much darker tone. For extreme metal, this is even one that I felt was a chore to get through. It’s certainly one intense ride from start to finish, but I find this one very difficult to grab much from.
