Well, I received this CD directly from the band. In the mini Bio I could read : "This is how Sentenced should sound like today". Pretty big statement if you ask me... let's see if the guys have what it takes to stomach it.

I must admit that Misery Inc have the talent and they do sound like Sentenced with a few differences, maybe they are a bit more catchy and they use double guitars in the most pleasant of ways. As for the demo itself, the production is impressive, really impressive for a demo. Mixed and produced by Nino Laurenne of Thunderstone (I wonder if you guys have signed yet ?), which explains everything production-wise. The first song Pray is a really cool tune with a very catchy melody and with extensive guitar riffs. The second one, that bears the name of the demo, is a mid-tempo song, with some nice guitar melodies, but the vocals are maybe a bit weaker than in the first song. The third song Darkest Night is the most aggressive and fast one, but once again the vocals are a bit light and need more aggression into it to correctly accompany the furious riffs of this song. The melody is very cool and the songs is a killer (and the best one), but it could have been much more with improved vocals and with the proper production.

As per the overall feeling, well, it's smells Sentenced from A to Z, with the difference that it looses its originality with that simple fact. Add to that that even if the vocal performance is a fairly good one, I still prefer Sentenced' singer a lot. But I admit that Jukkis Hunhtanen does a good job imitating him. Maybe he should try to deliver his own vocals... just a thought.

I think it's too soon to compare the band to a band with such experience like Sentenced, but they do have talent, and I'm sure that when they find a label (shouldn't be too difficult with this nice demo) and a proper budget for recording a debut album, it will be a very good one. And I sure hope to hear more from Misery Inc soon. Keep up the good work!
