I would bet a fortune these guys like and venerate Iced Earth.

The vocalist, Andreas Von Lipinsky, must be very inspired by Matthew Barlow. It is really amazing how he can sing like Matthew, especially when it comes to dark vocals (being however at millions light years compare to Barlow). The other influence is Iron Maiden.

Yes Maiden again, again and again. But isn't it logical when you really know who has inspired Jon Shaffer. Double drum/bass tempo is present everywhere. Fast guitar solos in the spirit of Iced Earth / Iron Maiden and everything here reminds you Jon Schaffer or Steve Harris song writing.

Not original of course but this Don't Trust The White is overall fast, melodic and "thrashy" sometimes. First song, Beyond The Surface, starts with a very fast Maiden's solo and once the vocals start, I had lots of difficulty to not compare each Wolfen's song to an Iced Earth one.

The production is a bit trapped and not as good as Iced Earth last productions, but still good compare to other things I have recently heard. If you are looking for a new metal sound or a new metal style, avoid this one at all cost.

Iced Earth is my ultimate metal band and Wolfen falls into "the copy-cat band" critique. Never boring, always powerful, this Don't Trust The White will please Iced Earth's fans out there … at least the ones who will excuse Wolfen's devotion to the currently biggest American heavy metal band.

I excused them … somewhat.
