No, I don't believe it !!! Sancturary didn't forgot me and send me an advance promo of the new Megadeth. In fact, I have to say here a big THANKS to Ursuala from Disctrade. This is a five songs promo and we will do a full review in due time.

1) Disconnect: Excellent song. Guitar riff stays forever in your mind and the chorus is excellent too. Here, Megadeth is still far away from Rust In Peace, but at the end of this first attack, Risk is erased, atomized and somehow Megadeth in back to the roots ... at least to more conventional heavy metal stuff.

2) The World Needs A Hero: A kind of "boogy-rock" song. Mustaine's solo is a killer (middle of the song). I imagine this song has been written for the fans who have discovered Megadeth ... on Risk. First surprise: Aerosmith is not that far. I didn't like it on first play and now I admit this song is somehow ... cool.

3) Moto Psycho: The chorus is a bit too simple for my taste. Here again, this song is full of rock and not enough heavy. I think again at Aerosmith. I also think of course at ... US radios. Not a bad track, but who could imagine such a song on a Megadeth's record ? Here you feel again Megadeth is trying to have a "planetary hit". I don't know if Moto Psycho will be the one. May be.

4) 1000 Times Goodbye: Here we are more in junction to Disconnect and it rocks again. Nice riff plus a woman voice on this song (bridge). Here it reminds me a little bit Guns & Roses. As I said it ROCKS. Magnificent solos again. Excellent.

5) Return To Hangar: No comparison with Hangar 18, except one thing : guitar solos are beautiful, fast and remind me the 80's. Bingo!

I damn like the cover-art (look at it on www.megadeth.com). However based on this cover-art I was expecting something more heavy, more aggressive, more thrashy. Of course, compare to Risk, this is the case. Compare to Rust In Peace, this is another story.

I'll keep my final judgement for the whole record, but these five songs are an excellent start for my taste and I think you can already order a copy of The World Needs A Hero (Europe release 14 May 2001, USA release 15 May 2001).
