Album of the month

Second album of the norwegian band, Profundemonium brings some fresh blood to the "beauty and the beast" genre.

Like other bands of the style, it strives in the duality of the ethereal female voice and the dark growlings of the male singer. But Trail Of Tears has a bigger death metal influence than its counterparts. This influence far from being delivered in raw form is well integrated in compositions merging strength and harmony. The songs are diverse with some very atmospheric parts alternating with heavier parts, enough to satisfy all fans of the genre. I would also give a special mention to the keyboardist for his excellent performance. The crystal clear sound of the production gives a large place to the keyboard and vocals, which implies not puting too much of the guitars and drums. Mixing is a question of balance, and this choice is the good one: the resulting production is perfect.

Profundemonium is the kind of album that is able to induce a lot of emotions and in the end that's what music is all about.
