Wynjara is a new band but its members are not. JP Soars (Divine Empire, ex-Malevolent creation) and Jason Morgan (ex-Monstrosity) have teamed up to create this debut album.

The australian aborigenes are the central theme of that album. Knowing that, I was expecting a lot of samples of aboriginal music (didgeridoo and stuff like that) but no this is mostly brutal US death metal, kind of slow for the style with a lot of mid-tempo and some atmopsheric songs. The technical level is good and the songs are also good so is the production. Sounds boring? Maybe the problem is that this album is missing the indescribable something that can transform good into excellent. After listening to it, there is no particular moment that stays in your head but this may just be a question of personal taste. There is also a cover of the Scorpions song "Animal Magnetism" which is a nice curiosity.

Although this is a good album, I suggest you try before you buy.

Killing Songs :
Hypnotized Society, Fall Of Empires, Cross The Line
