Listening a lot of their albums lately I've decided to continue reviewing another Edguy album. The logical choice was to continue where I've stopped with the last of my archive review, just after Vain Glory Opera. I know what question many people asked themselves when this album came out : is it better than VGO ? The answer is no, but as far as I'm concerned it's not far from it.

The first listens were not convincing, but quickly, after 10 listens, I was litteraly transported to the Theater Of Salvation and I started dreaming again. That's Edguy's biggest gift I suppose, to make you dream of better life, better time with epic stories and glorious time.

The album is fast paced, the solos and guitar riffs are majestic, exactly like in Vain Glory Opera. In the end this album is faster and more heavy metal than Vain Glory Opera. Tobias vocals are very good, so are the excellent Edguy choirs during the songs choruses. The atmosphere is a bit different from VGO, maybe more spiritual, but like always with Tobias' music, it's full of feelings, epic and powerfull at the same time. And that's exactly what I seek from a metal band, emotion packed songs and melodies with a powerfull sound that shakes my poor metal soul to the bones !

In the end this is for me an excellent album, very epic, very melodic, very Edguy ! This is no secret, this band really is in my top 3, just after X-Japan and struggling with Rage for the second position (since X-Japan are untouchable :)). This band have a huge future and since Tobias' vocals have improved in the latest version of Savage Poetry (2000) : I now await the next pieces of work (Avantasia first, then next Edguy studio album) with high expectations. But I'm sure I won't be disappointed. This album is a blast and contains no boring moments whatsoever.

A must for all True Metal fans. Long live Edguy !
