When I first listened to StormHammer I thought "yet another Hammerfall copy-cat album". Well, I can already tell you that after a few listens I no longer think that, cause it's certainly not a copy-cat and the Hammerfall touch is very appreciated on the few tracks it appears. After all what best inspiration than Hammerfall a band can have :), the kings of Power Metal as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, Stormhammer plays a fast paced, very melodic power metal and I must say it works ! This album is quite mature even though it's their debut album ! Guitar riffs are strong and powerful as for some of the solos; well they simply rock ! I didn't like the singer on first listen but I quickly got over it and I quiet like him now, there are some moments he even sounds like Kai Hansen (a bit :) ). Melodies are very catchy, and you won't forget them any day soon, especially on the song "Sacred Heart" which is my favorite in this release. Only weak point are the choirs, they could be more epic and lack power.

The production is nice and the sound is powerful. The songs are quite different one another and the album contains only a few boring moments.
In the end it's a very good surprise and I'm already anxious to hear more from them. A good Power Metal release and a nice work for a first album, keep up the good work.
