Surprise of the month

And the gods created Heavy Metal, they say... This first album from Morifade is a big surpise. I bought their first single some time ago (which is included in this one as a bonus CD) and I didn't anticipate their album to be so damn good (the potential was already there, but it didn't sound as good as this) !!! It's like it's no longer the same band anymore... No, not quiet actually it is, but the sound has improved as much as the complexity of the song writing. This album sounds like a synthesis of bands like Stratovarius and Nocturnal Rites. What really struck me was the guitars - the riffs are terrific... not only that, I would add that some are the most original ones I've heard since the Fast As A Shark (Accept) solo !!! Fiercly quick but somehow so melodic. The atmosphere is a good medieval one and reminds me of some Blind Guardian moments from time to time. The vocalist has a good voice and the production is acceptable, the sound isn't has clear as it could be, there's still some improvements to be done in the quality of the recording (level of recording is too low in comparison with other albums and some other mixing issues). In the end this disc has a place in every true metal fans collection, and I'm really looking forward to listen to their next albums because this one was a big surprise and a damn good one.
