I think the spoken parts sound better on WLA, although I only have a few mp3s, not the whole album. But I love Mayhem: They have a really warped "arthouse" feel to their later stuff that you can't find anywhere else. |
...more variety? Please, there's only two good songs (title track, You Must Fail) and the rest sound like In The Lies Whereupon You Lay minus 99% of the awesomeness. There's much more variety in Grand Declaration. |

Yeah, more variety. If you don't like the tracks I'm not going to try to change your mind, but I think there's more noticeable differences track to track on Chimaira. |

Never really liked Mayhem. Too amateurish, and is it true about copying Burzum? Varg's crew are a lot better than Attilla's, anyway.
Roll. |

Really? I find the later stuff to be amongst the tightest I've heard in BM. Pretty complex, but flawlessly executed. I find their sound and aesthetic to be right at the other end of the BM spectrum to Burzum's, as well. Early Mayhem has a hard riffing rock 'n' roll approach, and late Mayhem has a lot of explosive hyper-twisty blast riffing (as I like to describe it ). None of this with Varg...
I'm hungry. |

Are you talking about the vocals? Euronymous had some of the tightest riffing around, hardly amateurish. |

I haven't heard much new Mayhem, admittedly. But the earlier stuff's awful shit. |

| Well, Euronymous' riffing obviously has nothing to do with the new stuff. |

I used to think that DmDS was insanely overrated, but now I can see the magnificence of this monumental album. The atmosphere, the riffing, the sheer darkness.
New Mayhem I hate. I KNOW Helhammer can play extremely fast and do insane fills, I KNOW Blasphemer can play fast and technical... I mean, there's no doubt these guys are amazing musicians, but Black Metal isn't about that. Their music might be complex and elaborate, but BM isn't about that, BM is about atmosphere, emotion and depth, and new Mayhem lacks all of these. Not to mention Maniac is one of the worst vocalists ever.
And Euro wrote some of the best BM riffs ever... they sound so morbid and satanic. |

| I just played Wolf's Liar Abyss recently for the first time in about 2 years. I forgot just how cool "Fall of Seraphs" is. Excellent track. |

By that comment we all understand that you're the retard with a keyboard. |
