Unsure. Probably classic rock or indie.

Classic rock, then punk, then classical. Prog's somewhere in the middle.

Classic rock (Classic rock was my stepping stone into metal), then Classical (I started to appreciate classical music when I saw my first symphony, Omaha Symphony). Then prog rock (Prog rock is a genre I have always been interested in, but I need to be in the right mood to listen to it.)

Really my main love is avant garde/experimental/progressive stuff. Then straight Metal comes in afterwords.

Do you mean avant garde, experimental metal? Or just avant-garde music in general?

If by avant garde music in general you mean John Cage, no (I fucking hate that guy). But yes, I enjoy experimental music of non-metal origin if I can get ahold of it and it doesn't suck.

Haha, yeah when you made that post the word "Cage" did cross my mind, actually. But anywayl, I'm curious now... What about experimental jazz?

I'm not overly familiar with a lot of jazz, there is some fantastic and cool stuff to be found there (as well as some good fusion, while we're at it), but I hate nothing more than lame, safe jazz (or early jazz, for that matter). Miles Davis and John Coltrane tend to know what's up though.

I listen to a lot of stuff besides metal. Classical music, rock (I don't know what is considered progressive and what is not) some blues and even some funk and soul... I can't tell which genre I like the most. Calssical music and rock gets the most playing time I guess..

Dark ambient. But I'm still pretty new to that genre. I'm still having a lot of fun exploring it though.
