I reckon 7 out of 10 people will rank Death above CC, but to me there is nothing heavier than CC |
I know what you mean, and that I can respect. But personally Suffocation is my go-to for that old school brutal sound, also Pestilence - Consuming Impulse. Fucking killer album that is. |

I don't listen to much death metal, but I've heard at least one album by all the bands previously mentioned, and I think Death shits all over them all, and then eats the shit and shits it all over them all again with a torn, bleeding rectum. In a good way.
Does that count for anything? |

No, but their first album was good. |

Yeah NYDM destroys Floridian death metal, pardoxically without Morbid Angel there would be no Suffocation or Immolation... Go figure |

Apples and oranges.
Two totally different styles and approaches to the genre.
Still, to me Death is one of the few acts that are absolutely above reproach. |

And if we follow this paradox to its logical conclusion,
without NYDM, there would be no Malevolent Creation, which is, further along the paradoxical, considered a Florida DM band...
or something.
I don't know, I just like the word "paradoxical". |

| I really have a hard time taking seriously a band who names a song "I Cum Blood". There are so many better bands and so many albums more worthy of classic status for this to be the choice. Sarcofago isn't even archived for Christ's sake. |

| If you're taking Cannibal Corpse seriously, then I think you're kinda missing the point. |

| Granted, but I don't see much of a point in listening to music just for shock value. And Tenacious D is much better if I'm listening to music to get a laugh. |

I can't say, because I'm not too much of a CC fan myself, but I think it's less about being shocked and more about "br00tal" riffs... even though there are much better DM bands out there.
They're some pretty good musicians, though. Alex Webster is a monster bass player.
