Punk is weird for me. I love Buzzcocks, Jam, Wire, Ramones but
Sex Pistols and the Clash do nothing for me, I have no idea why just something about them.

Hey, we cannot all love the same thing. I love The Clash but think the Sex Pistols are crap. Strangely, I love Public Image Ltd.... Go figure!

Public Image Ltd are way better than The Sex Pistols, true. Although I do like the latter, from overexposure if nothing else.

I love The Clash also, probably my favourite punk band.

I think they may be one of those bands where you have to identify with the social milieu to really dig, though. Sorry to sound like a pretentious ass but that's the only way I could think to put it.

That.
Also, you have to enjoy soul music and reggae to like the Clash.

My favorite punk is Post-Punk, no doubt about it.

Joy Division, Echo and The Bunnymen, Swell Maps, Interpol, The Chameleons (UK), Television, Gang Of Four, Talking Heads, The Fall, Magazine, Wire, The Raincoats, The Psychedelic Furs, etc.

I love other punk bands like The Clash, Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Fugazi, Buzzocks, The Damned, The Saints, and stuff like that.

Anybody ever hear Rudimentary Peni?
Pretty good band that doesn't get a lot of recognition.

Heard them, but not much and need to listen more.

Any Crass fans? The Feeding Of The Five Thousand is getting a re-release, as are their other albums in the future:

Yeah, Crass is cool.
Rudimentary Peni are not strictly punk, they lean more towards deathrock, but they are excellent. What have you heard by them?

Good album. Short, straight to the point songs with plenty of hooks.
If you can track down their EPs and Archaic, they are good as well.

As much music as I've collected over the years, and barely scratching the surface... still so much to grab.

As much as I enjoy punk, I haven't heard of a lot of what was given up in this thread. Hell, I just got around to listening to Black Flag, and I've owned a bunch of Rollins stuff since End of the Silence came out. Damn near 20 years of being very aware of them, but only had 'Damaged' in my collection.

Sonic Youth is another I just recently caught up on, saw that listed earlier. Wasn't sure if that was 'punk' or early alternative? This goes for Husker Du as well.

All these genres really mess me up after a while. What are the Pixies? I never really thought of PIL as punk, other than Johnny Rotten's involvement.

Gogol has that punk feel, and obviously the whole 'gypsy punk' moniker, but you know, violins and accordions aren't generally associated with your punk. Definitely love Gogol though.
