I might be in the minority but I happen to agree that this deserves a classic rating. It was one of the best hard rock albums to come out during that era and a lot of songs like Here I Go Again never really get old.
In fact this is one of the albums that's on my iPod I got for Christmas. |

| Huge Whitesnake fan. I may think Slide It In is better but this is a decent album. Maybe a classic. |

Nice review. I've always liked Whitesnake. Agreed with the description of Still Of The Night. A fantastic song. I like Is This Love more than Here I Go Again. So, that would be under my list of stand out tracks from this album. I just found this fantastic singer singing Whitesnake's Still Of The Night. If you haven't listened to this, you're surely missing something.

| Here I Go Again is only tolerable if it's the radio edit. And I kinda like Is This Love. |

When looking for stone cold classics in the realm of sticky hair metal and 80s pomposity which I love, this is one of the definite top runners. Old School-'snake-fans do undoubtedly despise this record and the subsequent direction, but so it goes. Great stuff, Erik.
E: And I completely agree that Is This Love is the one lame moment here. |

Does anyone actually like this version? It has very few guitars and way more keys and sounds awfully fluffy. |

I don't think so.
The "original" album version (the second version of the song) opens with synth lines and after the intro kicks in with the guitars and doesn't quit.
The remix opens with guitar chords and has a lot less overdrive and lets the keyboards play a lot of the melodies that the album version's guitars handle.
The saints and sinners version is the plodding slow version that opens with hammond organ and calls "drifters" "hobos" |

| I prefer the 4:30 synth opening version. That version kicks ass. The vocals stand out more giving it a more bombastic tone and the riff backing the chorus has a little more oomph to it and even if it's carried by the synths the chorus is much cooler than the original version. |
