| If I hadn't heard of it, how can it be a classic? |

I am embarrassed to say I haven't heard this, thank you for reminding me I damn well need to do so.
But I am confused to your comments regarding this 'ushering in the second wave'. It was released in 1996, no? |

| I've never heard of this either, and apparently not many people have. But if it was that influencial I must have a listen. |

| I would imagine it's more on the side of Vinterland/Dissection/Sacramentum than that of Dimmu Borgir. |

Sacramentum's 'Far Away from The Sun' is actually very good, trapt. You are welcome to try it, if you haven't heard. |

I'm sure this is a great album but I can't imagine it being just sooooo so innovative. Now I'm saying stuff that people are going to start hounding me for since I haven't actually listened to this. |

Well, neither have I. But hell, even ANUS approves to some degree.
What's wrong with Dissection-esque Metal anyways? |

Not seeing how this is a classic.
Good album, unique for the genre, even, but... |

| For all those who are wary because of the Dissection reference: I am not musically comparing Kvist to Dissection, just saying that those 2 are the big 2 in the early Melodic Black Metal scene, albeit from different nations. |

V says it's decent; it doesn't sound like Dissection. I think I just have to much other bm to get into right now. |

That's some shitty reasoning, unless it's a joke. By that standard, how could any metal album be a classic in a universal perspective, except the Black Sabbaths and Iron maidens? |

By that standard, how could any metal album be a classic in a universal perspective, except the Black Sabbaths and Iron maidens? | Not shitty reasoning. Simply from my own perspective as someone who has listened to a lot of shit and just simply heard of a lot more stuff, the fact that I had never even heard of the band let alone the album implies that it couldn't be all that well known. Surely, I would have come across it by now as either someone's influence or in some list of underrated gems. But nope. It sounds rather pompous, but it's just a simple recognition that I know quite a bit about metal and expect to know classics at least by name when they are posted here. _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/traptunderice |
