Well look at this way: Enslaved are really popular in Norway too, and they don't pull stunts like that. Also Enslaved would never make a video like KING. |
King is a cool music video. |
Did you like the new Dimmu video too? |

It was kind of gay. Dimmu is weird for me. I understand them. Pro-Satan agenda they have. |

| I suppose the KING video is better, but Satyricon was still pandering to the same popular audience, weren't they? |

It's a solid metal song that makes me headbang, I like it. |

| The video is like a party for well-adjusted, social people. Change time and music and it my as well be from Whitesnake. Partying is not BM. |

bm and videos don't mix at all really.
Possibly the only decent one I've seen is the Mother North one. |

Ah, labels. Satyr has more than earned the right to do whatever he wants, including making decent, appropriate music videos like K.I.N.G. and beyond.
And that video is nothing like the new Dimmu video where they try yet another desperate and hilarious variation on the same old BM cliches. Satyr has moved on obviously, and found an image still sinister, but with a lot more style. He's black metal chic now. Is it his fault he has fashion sense?

You've already made your opinion abundantly clear on parties, good to see which side you sit on the fashion debate too now! |

Just in case you missed it .. I said nothing about how important fashion was to black metal. But .. if you want to talk about music videos or live performances, then sure. Image is important and you would have to be an extra special kind of hypocrite to think otherwise. |

Shut the fuck up and talk about the greatness of this album.
Who gives a damn what Satyr wears and who he hangs out with?
Nobody.
This and The Shadowthrone are two of the best slabs of black metal to come out of early-90s Norway. If you are one of the rabble that has yet to give them a spin, I highly recommend them.
As I stated, Walk The Path Of Sorrow alone is worth the purchase; timelessly epic, martial, desolate and cold, it has everything good black metal should have. |

| Hey I least we are derailing the thread with talk about the same band, not like some other classic threads ;) |

Maybe publicity stunt is the wrong expression for it, but hanging around with Phil Anselmo and having Slipknot's drummer as a live session player was really ridiculous. Are there no other drummers in the whole US of A that can play the drums for mother north? Why choose someone so high profile, if not to create controversy and get media exposure? |

lol wow who gives a shit. Really. Fucking snobs. Yeah they got so much media exposure and sold so many more albums because of that. Everyone totally tuned into that and was like " WOAH THEY HAVE SLIPKNOTS DRUMMER DRUMMING FOR THEM. METULLLLL "
Seriously the underground elitist snobbery around here is really hilarious. Where else but online do you go on like this? |
That is fucking naive. I don't even have a problem with Slipknot, since they are and always were a gimmick band anyway. But a black metal band, well known in Europe but not so much in the US comes and takes their drummer for a gig while they could hire any unknown drummer who knows how to blastbeat.
Why do you think they would do this, if not for publicity? |

| They like Joey Jordison or whatever his name is? Lots of guys from euro metal bands get along with Slipknot. |

Also last time I checked Satyricon wasn't endless blastbeats like 1349 or something. Not saying they need Neil Peart or something on drums, but what you're saying is a bit insulting.
I mean for publicity is really just fucking laughable. What publicity. lol
Also as far as my last minute ninja edits I didn't want to come across too harsh or anything. Just bsing here. |

Yeah you are saying what publicity and still can not provide a decent answer for the question.
Whatever. |

I say what publicity because no one knows or likely remembers what you're talking about. lol
And what publicity did they get anyway? A blurb in metal hammer? |
