Hell yea. Vanishing Point are one of those bands who are still giving it their best after all these years. Embrace The Silence is a monster but check out Tangled In Dream. I honestly dont know which I prefer out of the two. The debut, In Thought, is also worthy of a listen. Pretty primitive production and the prog ideas tend to drag but there are gems in there.

Even the most typical of bands get high marks around here. Which is stupid.

Vanishing Point is hardly a "typical band" especially in the prog metal genre" If getting a 5.0 / 5.0 from Metal-Rules and an average score amongst the readers of well over 90 / 100 is "typical" then guilty as charged......

Well, Raintime is a typical melodeath band, and both of their releases got high-ratings on this website. I can't say that Vanishing Point is typical or not, because I haven't bothered listening to them yet.

We'll see once I get the CD. But I have my doubts.

But I never said that they themselves were typical. I meant bands in general. If you read my above post carefully, you would know this.

I know that you're trying to make a point here somewhere....I'm just not sure what it is........

Point is, not all bands deserve high scores if they're playing typically. I don't care how amazing it sounds and what have you. If it's been done before, it doesn't deserve a high score. Period.

Like I said above, I can't say if this band sounds typical. But Raintime and a few others DO sound it, and thusly do NOT deserve the scores they were given.

This is madness.
