Real First Name: Steven

School: Freshmen at Arizona Western College

How I discovered Metal: Listening to Slipknot, and gradually getting into darker stuff while at the same time listening to mallcore (Rotting Christ, Cradle of filth, Moonspell, Mayhem, God dethroned) were the first bands I got into and gradually started to branch out since my freshmen year of high school
How you discovered the site:
I've been using this site for unbiased reviews since my freshmen year of high school. You guys are always true and don't have the elitist sensibilities of the faggots on Metal archives. Basically just average people writing reviews about the music they are passionate for and its something I respect I'll keep using this site until it ends up like the ego flattery zone like Metal archives.

Hello everybody!

An actual newbie here!! Noticed this thread only now, after writing a coupl'of posts as replys to reviews... So, here goes:

Real first name: Jari
Age: born in -78
Location: Finland
Job/school: graphic designer
Favourite five bands of the moment: Seventh Wonder, Suspyre, Saint Deamon, Lost Horizon, Iron Maiden.
Current favourite album: Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls
Non-musical interests: Working out, badminton, tennis, ps3
How you discovered Metal: Around 83:ish my bigbro was discovering strange new music (to us, that is), like Maiden, W.A.S.P., Accept etc. so I had no other option but to learn to like them too
How you discovered Metal Reviews: If I remember anything, it was around 2001 - 2003 when I Googled metal reviews... This forum I've been visiting through the reviews for a couple of years to see differing views on things... And that's exactly how I got started here, too...
Gen. info: I enjoy metal in quite wide range... From old heavy rock like Uriah Heep and Deep Purple to Nile, which must be the most extreme side of metal i occasionally visit...

Real first name: Brandon
Age: 16
Location: Australia
Job/school: Second last year of school
Favourite five bands of the moment: Disarmonia Mundi, Opeth, Dream Theater, Mercenary and Scar Symmetry
Current favourite album: Mercenary - The Hours That Remain
Non-musical interests: Football, Basketball, Guitar, Chillin' with mates.
How you discovered Metal: Used to listen to Punk Rock, Greenday, Blink 182 etc. then a friend recommended I listen to Mercenary. Sort of liked the Metal sound and got into Metalcore, but got bored of most of the bands within weeks, so the same friend recommended a whole bunch of other Melodic Death Metal bands like Scar Symmetry, Disarmonia Mundi etc. and I really enjoyed their sound so I went searching for more metal which is how I found Metal Reviews. I now listen to Prog, Black, Death and Thrash as well as Melodic Death Metal.
How you discovered Metal Reviews: Was searching for new metal bands and typed Metal Reviews into google.
Gen. info: Dunno...

Real first name: Rickard
Age: 21
Location: Stockholm, Sweden
Job/school?: Studying economics and entrepreneurship + I work extra in an office.
Favourite five bands of the moment: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Exodus, Dio
Current favourite album: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Non-musical interests: Football, Ice Hockey, Partying, Reading, TV
How you discovered Metal: My mum has always listened to hard rock such as Aerosmith and Bon jovi but because my mum liked that kind of music I had a predjudiced mind towards it because I couldnt listen to the same stuff as my mum, that would be uncool ( I thought so at the time..) So it took a while for me before I discovered metal. The first band that really got me into metal was Iron Maiden. I was playing a lot of counter-strike at the time i was 15-16 and Fear of the Dark was played in a counter-strike video I was watching, and that song blew me away. Iron Maiden is still my favorite band, but they also helped me to discover a lot of other great bands.
How you discovered Metal Reviews: Through Google I think.
Gen. info: Been lurking around the site for several months but never signed up as a member, but I've med a few posts now and I'm enjoying the forums.

Rickard is a pretty common name here in Sweden, but that is quite a coincidence

Haha, no I'm not from Gotland actually, but I've been there several times. The reason I have the nickname "rauken" is a long story, and yes, I like Rauk 'n roll

(Såg Canopy på Harry B James i Stockholm en gång, de va riktigt bra och jag måste säga att du har en oerhört fin signatur )

Hi there, I've been reading this forum for quite a while now. Thought I should introduce myself.

Real first name: Andreas
Age: 18
Location: Wommersom, Belgium
Job/school: student psychology
Favourite five bands of the moment: Byzantine, Machine Head, Opeth, Anaal Nathrakh, Heaven Shall Burn (Damn, that was difficult to narrow it down to five! )
Current favourite album: Heaven Shall Burn - Whatever It May Take
Non-musical interests: TV, going out with friends, nothing special really.
How you discovered metal: The first time I heard something that at least had some metal influence was Linkin Park when I was 10 years old. I remember seeing the video for "Crawling" and I was like "Holy shit, that's good!". Keep in mind, I was only 10 at the time. I guess I found my way in through nu metal. A few years ago a friend of mine sent me some Heaven Shall Burn tracks, saying I should hear it. I was just blown away and since then I've been listening to all styles of metal.
How you discovered metal reviews: Also through google. I was looking for a descent site with descent metal reviews.
