Never really liked Mayhem. Too amateurish, and is it true about copying Burzum? Varg's crew are a lot better than Attilla's, anyway.

Roll.
Varg is just another retard with a keyboard....

What would that make you, then?
Burzum >>>>> you.

V.?!?

I'm in little doubt, he has the charesteristics of V, but he seems to have adapted his writing style a little, either he changed it on purpose or it's not him... I'm still 95% sure it's Val though.

I've been meaning to comment on this one for quite awhile, but hadn't up until now. Like a lot of people, I heard all the hype and whatnot about this album before actually hearing the album.

I really like it though. Yes, Attila's vocals are atrocious in just about every sense. The thing is though: for the most part they fit well enough. If you can get past them on "Funeral Fog" you'll be okay because they're better (imo) for the rest of the album (except for the title track). ... I'm always amazed when I listen to it though at just how good a mix it has. It's raw, but very well produced in a way. Also, it just seems like a really tight record. Euronymous's riffing, while it may not have a lot of variety, is tight and good. And Hellhammer's drumming speaks for itself.

I got this one for Christmas to replace the burn I had of it, and I'm really glad I got it. I have to say that I was a little disappointed im the overall presentation though. I like the cover artwork, but that's about all there is to this one (but at least it's not a digipack). Given everything else, I can kind of understand, but it's still a little disappointing to someone like me who enjoys having the actual album and looking at all the art and liner notes.

To anyone wondering about whether or not to buy this one though, don't believe the hype. Either side. It's not the greatest bm album ever. But it's not completely overrated garbage due to the circumstances of its creation either. It's quite good.

To be honest, I couldn't get into this. Maybe it's because I was very different to what I expecting. A friend of mine saus they were just speed, speed and more speed. Howevr, the only BM album he owns is Wolf's Lair Abyss. Atilla's vocals are very unique though, and definately very evil sounding, more so than any other BM vocalist i have heard.

I have a hard time taking Atilla seriously, but that's just my bad.

Still, the riffs in this album rule. It took me awhile. It's a different kind of Black Metal album.

Can't bear his vocals here.

I prefer newer Mayhem to this album!

This album is entirely over-rated.

You know I don't agree. Overrated if people scream about how great it is musically, etc maybe. Overall though for vibe and overall presentation it is the definitive Norwegian Black Metal album. Are their better ones from that time, of course. Wrath of the Tyrants is def better as are quite a few others, but for influence and place in history it is def a classic.

Anyways, I love the album. I don't like BM that is "perfect" so this is perfect to me, I like it much better then any early Darkthrone for example

I've come back to this, and It's definately grown on me. Funeral Fog is one of my top BM tracks of all time.

Live In Leipzig has a better atmosphere than this IMO. Plus Dead is awesome, both in his vokills and rants between songs.

Never heard it man except for maybe Freezing Moon from that concert which was on that CM Firestarter comp. Ultra raw live BM isn't my thing either.

You have Beheirt's Complete Worxxs? You might dig that if you like ultra raw live shit and stuff.

Live in Leipzig is on Century Media, so it should be readily available.

And Candlelight just reissued Drawing Down the Moon, reaper, and you need to get that album.

You another super raw BM album that is a must have... Fate Worse then Death from Thors Hammer from the dude from Graveland....yeah yeah, bs racist shit and stuff, but damn what an album from the opener fuck off and die all the way through. Hell just download it, but if yuo like ultra raw, extreme BM that one is worth it.

That packaging bothered me as well. The strangest thing about it was that there was no picture of Attila. Any one know why?
