^^Very interesting album cover.
NP:
Thoroughly enjoyable. Their later albums are especially great live. Abbath's presence is as always amusing. Not much fan of early Immortal but later Immortal is fucking great by any standards. |

Why waste your time on shit like JFAC when you can get real riffs from better death metal like Acephalix?

Being a huge fanboy of Enslaved I bought this DVD not too long ago. Giving a spin today. The lighting on stage is a bit a weirdish. The sound is not very organic but it's fuckin' Enslaved so I don't really care.
Before the Enslaved was this:
Very intimate documentary about one the most important records in the history of music. |

What a great record this is. Better than The Gathering and even stronger than The Formation Of Damnation |

Yeah, cool show that was. As always, Abbath has fun playing, he doesn't take this shit too seriously |

Edit: They are channeling Lamb of God into some death metal with not so great vocals. Woopty fucking doo. Let's salivate over this because it isn't that shitty album, Doom. |
We get it, we get it. You don't like bands with Deathcore in their past.
And that's fine by me, too, but give me just a modicum of fucking credit here. I'm not blindly praising this because their old stuff was shit. As a matter of fact, I've never even heard Doom, and therefore it has zero bearing on my judgment of this music. I would think this was a solid album if it was put out by any band at any stage of their career, because that stuff has nothing to do with it.

Guitarist on James LaBrie's solo albums 'Elements of Persuasion' and 'Static Impulse'. He's also worked with Jordan Rudess and another project called Creation's End. This is his solo guitar instrumental album.

So it's basically mindless wankery and showing off how well he can go up and down the scales? |

Yes, among others. If someone on the forum doesn't like something someone else is listening to, I'm just not sure why they need to express that.
Sure, every now and then it feels good to say "well I don't like that" (especially when it involves a band that Ken likes, because you know you'll get a good reaction from him!). But if it becomes a pattern then we all become Steve and everyone trashes everyone else's listening habits. |

Who's trashing what and who? I'm not trashing or bashing anyone or anything. When was my last "negative attitude" towards someone on the forums here? Yeah, Scumbag should get a real grip and stop making horrendously stupid threads about the first thing that pops in his head when he's in the washroom, that's all. And we can't always be sophisticated and subtle. It'll be too boring! So what if I make a less than polite comment on Raven's post. Just expressing my opinion in its purest form without any rudeness one can pin point. I see no pattern. Chill old man. |

I think you are being a bit defensive here, DI.
A lot of people on the forum dislike black metal, some dislike thrash, some dislike power, etc. I think we know who falls into which "camp" at this point. Perhaps the forum as a source of musical discussion is gone at this point anyway. Making light of my age, or Zad's facebook adventures, or Wally's phone habits seems more fun. |

It's just discussion, man. It's what the board is for after all.
Sometimes people will obviously want to defend their opinion on certain albums and others will disagree, but I don't think anyone is really taking it personally. |

Your recent thread about breaking through a prior musical barrier and giving black metal a chance was the most popular music thread on the forum in a long time for a reason. The only other recent one was on whether people can still listen to power metal.
Everything else just basically lacks all depth of discussion and just becomes a matter of bashing Walnut's like for Tankard.
Is there really a point to visit the music discussion section of the forum to see whether someone says: "I like this album or I don't like album?" I realize I am sounding tired and old here, just searching for those moments of real inspiration on the music side of things back from like 2004-2005. |
