I was sure, when writing my little closing comment about metal drummers being overrated, that someone would react just as you did. I'm not surprised. Not amused either. |
Then maybe you shouldn't have written it, but then you wouldn't be Stefan, would you? |

You dared select three off my list (the easiest choices, may I add) and left the others aside. Why? Do you know what Mr. Bruford's capable of? Have you heard the Kinks? What makes Cream so unique a band?

As a matter of fact I know Bruford's drumming from the Yes album "Fragile." He is a highly capable drummer. I agree personality or spirit as you call it, is essential to set a drummer apart from another drummer. I think personality most definitely exists in worlds of rock, jazz, and metal. I have listened to Cream back in the day but have never ever followed their albums. |

And I'm pretty sure most people here expected a statement like that from you about metal and none of us were surprised or amused either. Back on topic, Pete Sandoval and Nicko McBrian. I also think Clive Burr could've made it really big as a drummer. |

| The Annoying Frenchman's idea of a good drummer is a guy tapping bongos while under the influence of THC. He also hardly listens to metal and regularly criticizes anyone that does as "elitist", his opinion can otherwise be surmised as jack/shit. |

Just one thing. When did I say that someone was an elitist because he listened to metal? |

I really don't give a shit about what the drummer sounds like. If it works, it works, that's up to them. I know how to make it sound good, but don't care what they are playing.
I've always said I never notice the drumming, but when I sit back and listen to it, most drummers sound tremendous, even Lars Ulrich sounds good to me. If a drummer can get my attention to them, then I think they are terrific.
Cozy Powell
Vinny Appice
Neil Peart
Ian Paice
Bill Bruford
All the power metal drummers
My list is endless. |
