It's getting tons of hype and great press. Based upon the early buzz surrounding this CD I can't wait to hear it. Here's one of the first reviews:

Anyone heard the new single, Rock & Roll Train?
I was disappointed with how soft and mundane it was... I very much hope the rest's better or we're heading for a very poor album...

I heard "Rock n Roll Train" by AC/DC the other day and I found it bland - v disappointing considering its been 8 years since the last one. I'll still buy the new album though - it wouldn't be the first time that a boring single has disguised an otherwise suoerb album.

They're running out of ways to play I-IV-V.

Rock and Roll Train is pretty boring.
War Machine (which can be heard on their myspace page) kicks ass though.

I'm listening to it right now... Classic AC/DC. Not great but not bad either... We'll see how time does to this one.

PS : Anything Goes (track 4) sucks.

Seriously.

"War Machine"

I don't give a shit how original it sounds or how good it is. The title says "We are lazy"

I heard a song on the radio at work and thought it sounded like more uninspired, tired AC/DC, just like everything else released after They ran out of Bon Scott's ideas on Back In Black.

The media hype and circus surrounding this album is an embarassment for the genre.

You don't see hip hop stuck in the past to the point that most uninspired are treated like gods, for that, We the fans should be ashamed that this album is getting the attention it is.

That whole statement is so wrong, its not funny.

Black Ice sounds refreshed, like a band full of ideas since returning to the studio in 2003/4 after a few years of touring. Although some songs are the same "classic" sound, they do change things up a bit on other songs, such as Stormy May Day, where Angus uses a slide guitar.

In a radio interview, they stated that they had almost 50 songs to choose from for Black Ice....50! Thats how refreshed and un-lazy they are...

AC/DC should be getting as much attention as they deserve, and they deserve a heap of attention because of what they have achieved over the last 3 decades.

Kick ass songs on Black Ice include Rock N Roll Train, War Machine, Decibel, Stormy May Day, Black Ice, Spoilin' For A Fight and Big Jack

The title says we are lazy? Why's that? It's a classic sounding AC/DC title. And what makes the words of a title represent laziness? Ridiculous statement.

As for everything else they released after Bon...there's some great stuff there. Calling nearly 20 years of music "uninspired" is absurd.

AC/DC is not stuck in the past. They play a style of bluesy-simple rock and roll. They make no apologies for this. They defined a sound and are not going to do much experimentation with it. Get over it! Just classify them as a band you don't like, and move on. The bitching about them never changing is what's old, tired and uninspired.

Newsflash: Motorhead, RunningWild, AC/DC, Grave Digger - they are what they are. And what they are, to their fans, is damn good.

And finally, when a band as revered and respected as AC/DC releases its first album in some EIGHT years, you damn well better believe the album deserves this attention. Especially, if it's as decent as many reviews are claiming.

Apparently, fans are lapping this album up, and Rock & Roll Train kicks ass. Probably this will end up as the first AC/DC album I ever heard completely.

I think you can remove at least 5 songs which are just boring:

Skies on Fire (*ZZZ*)
Smash n Grab
Decibel
Stormy May Day
Money Made

And this would be the best ACDC since Back in Black

Rock n Roll Train
Big Jack
Anything Goes
War Machine
Spoilin For a Fight
Wheels
She Likes ROck n Roll
Rock n Roll Dream
Rocking all the Way
Black Ice

But a critic point is, that it could be faster. The Airbourne has just more speed and power.

And Airbourne also gets bloody boring after two songs.

I'll agree with you there - maybe three songs tops. But, in just limited doses, those three songs do kick ass.

But a little bit more songs like Fire Your Guns or Heatseeker or so, wouldn't be so bad.

What I can't understand is, that they put Skies on Fire on place 2. Rock n Roll Train is a good opener and then it goes down with this boring slow kind of song. If Skies on Fire would be on 4, they could probably let it on the record.

And I don't know what many have against Anything Goes. IMO it's a very happy song, which has many "Who Made Who" and "Thunderstruck" vibes. Especially the guitar dideli dideli in the background.

Smash N Grab is my favorite song on the album.

But I do agree at least 3 songs should've been left off. I don't really care which 3, all the material is at least good, but 15 songs of this is too many. I'd probably start with axing Rock N Roll dream though.

Strange is, "Rock n Roll Dream" is by far the calmest song, but I like it more than e.g. Skies on Fire or Money Made.

I think Decibel and Money Made are quite bad. Don't mind Smash and Grab at all. And I like Stormy May Day a lot, only, it's bizarrely short - it almost sounds like a demo or like something was cut off. Wish they fattened that tune up a bit.

Decibel is one of my fav tracks on the album. Smash n Grab is good also and Stormy May Day is a great track which unfortunately is way too short.

Skies on fire doesnt sound too bad, maybe a bit slow, but not boring.

I would take out Rock n Roll Dream and Rockin all the way if i had to choose a few tracks....the rest can stay IMO
