Let's no go nuts with the blastbeats and being #1. The blasts are pretty much featured in Attack, and a little in Dreaming. And they're no more than 10-15 seconds long. Is it good that they're tops with such drumming style? Of course. But I say let's soak our collective tampons when a 6-7 minute Hellhammer or Trym blastfest is on top of Ashley Simpson and Fiddy Cent, and not a small snippet.

*the devil on my shoulder*..."Bruhahaha, told ya, didnt take too long. Its always something. If theres actually something nice, then there´s not enough of it. Why even try to push something that´s actually big in the mainstream. A death sentence right there, why even try?"

*the angel on other shoulder*..."I know, I know...I guess I imagine hopeless utopias...just maybe giving credit...call me a dreamer."

Naaah, forget about that. But it amuses me that there´s always something. And I aint either creaming myself over the blasts, just a refreshing remark for an actually succesful album. I give credit where it is due.

...And truth be told, I would rather listen to a 15 second powerful burst of blastbeating then 7 minutes of it that falls flat with boredom halfway in it. Just a personal note.

The more I listen to new SOAD the more I like it. Good review, Aleksie!

The only song I'm not a big fan of is "She's Like Heroin." I appreciate the ode to the 80's, but it's just a bit bland. The lyrics on "Lonely Day" are definitely rather vapid, but the song itself is quite good. This is why I pay little attention to lyrics at first. Of course, the "most loneliest day of my life" line just irked me from day one.

I think it's a great CD. Also, I agree about the guitar tone. Apparently Daron went with thinner strings because the all the songs didn't sound right with a meatier sound, so to keep the sound consistent he used the same guage strings on all the songs, thus the thinner tone. Minor complaint. Good review, my score would have been higher, but good review either way.

Attention Deficit Disorder Metal? Sorry, I've never heard of the term.

Name me 20 other ADD metal bands and I'll consider it a term.

Rest of the review's good btw.

Similar to spazz-core?

Anyway, this could start a trend, like Venom - Black Metal.

This is a good album, but I still like "Mesmerize" better. This album starts off strong but gets weak towards the end. Not as good over all as a solid album from start to finish.

Again with the generes! They're Nu-Metal, through and through.

Crap! They sound nothing like Korn. Emperor were around during nu-metal as well, doesn't make them nu-metal.

What does Emperor have to do with this?

And Korn is not the end-all-be-all of Nu-Metal. There are Nu-Metal bands that sound nothing like Korn, like Slipknot, for instance.

I wouldn't say Slipknot were still nu-metal. And taking the base values of nu-metal, downtuned riffs, rapping, baggy clothes, SOAD have nothing to do with it!

I can't really think of any bands that sound like Korn. here's something mind-boggling to consider: most nu-metal bands are actually much worse than Korn, and have much less personality =(

You're out of your tits! This is NOT a nu-metal band.

I agree. If anything I would shove them in the avant-garde genre.

Yeah, same here--only song I didn't really like. Great album. 85/100.
